9 Fun Ways to Use Avocado

This creamy fruit is so versatile when it comes to its many uses. Apart from the obvious use of incorporating them into sandwiches and salads, there are numerous other ways that you can include this amazing nutritious superfood in your life. Below is a list that you may wish to experiment with!

1. Smoothies

Add ¼ to ½ an avocado to smoothies to give it that nice creamy texture. It’s also a great addition to any green smoothie.

3. Facial Mask

What better way to get that healthy glow than with something as natural as avocados?  Avocados are great for moisturising your skin due to its healthy fats. Try combining avocados with honey, olive oil (or coconut oil) and oatmeal. Leave on skin for about 15 minutes and rinse off. You’ll reveal noticeably plump fresh skin!

4. Cake & Cookies

Avocados are a great substitute for butter or oil in baked good recipes such as cookies, cakes or muffins. Generally you can assume a one-to-one substitution of avocado for butter, although some results may vary slightly depending on the recipe. It’s also good to note that you may like to “thin out” thicker batters or mixes by adding another liquid to the recipe.

6. Ice-cream

Yes! You guessed it! Avocados are also great in ice-cream! For an easy recipe, blend avocados, coconut milk, honey (use maple syrup or rice malt syrup if vegan) and a little lemon juice for an amazing homemade dessert. Add a ripe banana if you have one handy for extra flavour and sweetness. Freeze overnight or for at least 4 hours and enjoy!

8. Conditioning Hair Mask

Nourish your hair with the conditioning benefits of avocado. For a simple recipe combine 1 ripe avocado, pitted and scooped out, 2 tablespoons olive oil and 2 tablespoons honey. Lather throughout your hair, concentrating on the ends and leave in for 15 mins before rinsing out with lukewarm water.
